The School of Electrical and Control Engineering is dated back to the Mining
and Electricity Department started in 1958 of Xi'an Jiaotong
University. In 1959, the Electrical Department was set up
and it grew into independent departments in 1985: Mechanical
Department and Electrical Engineering Department. In December
of 1994, another department--- Automation became independent
from the Electrical Department. Then was formed the Electrical
and Control Engineering college in 2002.
The School was approved to grant master's degree in 1984
and now has Control Theory and Control Engineering as the
provincial key program, and offers master's degrees in Electric
Power Electron and Ttransmission, Control Theory an Control
Engineering, Detection Technology and Automation System,
and Electrical Engineering. It offers 4 undergraduate programs
in Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, and
Detective Technique and Equipment. It has a student population
of 180 master's degree students and 1,406 undergraduates.
The School is composed of 4 departments: Automation, Detection
and Control Technology, Electrical Engineering and Electronics,
the Rudimentary Specialized Courses Division, Teaching Experimental
Center and IC Design and Development Center. The college
is staffed by 70 teachers and others: 2 Ph.D candidate supervisor,
5 professors, 25 associate professors, 11 lecturers, 5 senior
